Great features even with ROKU 1

With just a relatively high speed internet connection I'm able to access an incredible library of movies, television shows and other materials for all ages. The search engine within ROKU is amazing. You can locate all sorts of material that will interest you and other members of your family. It seems that if it's available at all it is available using this device using one of the many access points it provides.

A wonderful investment

I have been using my Roku 1 for six months. My saving so far is around $600. I needed to upgrade my AT&T WiFi connection speed but the cost was nominal. An unexpected consequence has been much more purposeful TV watching. The quality of streaming movies and TV programs is amazing! I found that national news is available. I keep finding more interesting channels. I never have a "nothing on TV night" and I never have to watch commercials. I should have bought a Roku years ago!

Roku made my "smart TV" actually Smart

My so-called "smart TV" was actually pretty dumb - it had netflix and vudu, but not much else. Once I hooked up the Roku, I now have Netflix, Amazon, Dramafever, Crackle, Youtube, Vimeo, NASA, PBS, etc. etc., all under one fairly consistent interface.
Originally, the Closed-Captioning support was very disappointing, almost leading to a return of the product. But then Roku pushed a software update that vastly improved the Closed Captioning display, to where it is vastly better than what the TV supports natively - you can adjust size, font, color and background of the captions to optimize readability.
The only thing that is still lacking is that the Netflix channel does not yet support profiles (on the Roku 1 at least). Hopefully that will come eventually.

Purchased to watch "The Blaze" on my TV rather than computer. Perfect! Have since added Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus.

Great device

I bought it from Walmart. Hooked it up with no problems. The only issue I have with it is that once an episode on Netflix is over, you have to press PLAY to watch the next episode. My smart TV has the capability of streaming 4 episodes back to back.

Great piece of hardware. Solid performance. If you want better Wi-Fi remote for UI interaction get the Roku 2 or a much faster processor get Roku 3.
