The Roku for the first few weeks seemed to be my cup of tea; however , after a few few weeks it would become hot to the touch finally becoming unusable as Netflix would no longer stream my choices "due to internal error". I did recommend it favorably to friends who purchased Roku. Not again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Buy the Roku 3 over any other

I have all the Rokus but the Roku 3 does it for me. I love the USB port where I can plug in my portable hard drive and play movies and music. I have one Roku 3 and 2 Roku 1's. When the Roku 3's come down a little I will trade up.

I bought our Roku 1 at Christmas, 2013. It was very simple and straightforward to set it up and it has proved exceptionally reliable--an excellent and reasonably priced product.

Awesome Streaming Device!

I gave up cable TV a few months back and bought two Rokus, the Roku 1 and a Roku 3. For my office, the Roku 1 is perfect for light viewing as I'm working on other things. This model has RCA jacks, so I was able to use on my older tube TV. Only downside is no YouTube on this one. Otherwise, one of the best purchases I have made in a long time!

The interface is unobtrusive and easy to set up. I bought this version over the others because I wasn't interested in Gaming, and so far it has proven to be a good choice.
