Works great!

In general, it's a great box that works wonderful. Two issues with room for improvement:
1) It would be great if the films/TV shows had a Text version of the show title below the graphic - as currently it's only the "poster graphic" from the show - where sometimes the fancy or small fonts used in the graphic are not readable, and you can't tell what the title actually is.
2) Not sure if this particular glitch comes from the Roku or the content distributors, but sometimes you'll be drilled down into the episode listing of a particular season of a particular show from a particular provider (HBO, etc.), and then you'll get an error message indicating "not available", and you'll have to go back to the home screen and navigate back to where you were. Not a game killer, but a slight inconvenience.
Otherwise, it's a great product that makes viewing shows easy and fun!

I already have two Roku 3's in my home and love the performance of these units. Very fast and an alternative to regular TV. I bought a Roku 1 for my office and since I did not need the speed of the V3, the Roku 1 is perfect for my needs. I have 120+ channels so I never run out of things to watch. The Roku is a perfect addition if you are looking for an entertainment alternative and the price of the Roku 1 makes it a no-brainer to have in your house.

The roku is great. I don't need to use my laptop to gain access to netflix, amazon, hulu and some of the other features that roku has.

bought several months ago to get rid of cable bills.product works great!!! saving up for roku 3 telling everybody. stop dealing with these outrageous cable prices!!! get a roku

Roku For Beginners

The Roku 1 is a good to start with. It works ok. It has lots of channels to choose from. It is a great price for the person who is getting a set top streaming box for the first time. What is not said is that quite a number of the mvie channels are subscription channels. Also there doesn't seem to be a way to change the picture setting so that it shows up on the screen properly. When I watch YouTube videos the picture is too big so that the bottom part of the video is cut off. When I watch the TWiT channel, the lower third that tells you who the guest is and his website address is cut off at the bottom. The picture is too big. My television is set to the correct size but the Roku does not recognize my TV setting. I have set the Roku to the correct setting but still, it's making the picture too big.
If one doesn't care that the picture is too big on the Roku 1, then by all means get it. If you have problems with the picture being too big, then the Roku 2 or 3 is the best for you. Either way, the Roku is a very good device if you want a lot of channels to choose from.
