QUICK SETUP AND MANY MANY FEATURES

I HAD DROPED DISH AFTER ABOUT 15 YEARS, AND INSTALLED AN OUTSIDE HD ANTENNA. I WAS TICKLED WITH WHAT I WAS RECEIVING. BUT WHEN I HEARD ABOUT ROKU, I ORDERED ONE, AND WOWEE. SO MUCH BETTER THAN DISH.I ORDERED A SECOND ONE FOR OUR BEDROOM TV.THE ONLY THING WE MISS IS FOX NEWS AND RFDTV.

Nice being able to access YouTube but remote poor.

I am basing my review on my familiarity with the original Roku player. I bought the Roku 1 because I wanted to be able to access YouTube on my tv. It does that. HOWEVER, the remote control is flimsy, awkward, doesn't give me the control that my old remote does. Also, if I want a channel that I've added (that didn't come with the Roku 1), I have to search for it all over again. The search feature is also awkward. All in all, I'm glad I can view YouTube but am very disappointed with the above mentioned features (or lack thereof).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought it simply because I was turned of running a computer just to steam video. Its great, a little slow booting and the search features in some apps (Netflix) could use a grid keyboard instead of a single row of letters. It would be nice if it had Bluetooth for mouse and keyboard. But its cheap so I won't complain. Good little unit. I wish they shared code with the open source community since I'm sure the device is Unix based in some way.

I've owned a Roku about 4 months and watch it weekly especially when all the repeats are on regular TV.
