I bought the Roku 1 for a spare bedroom. I didn't want to have to rent a cable box for a room that's rarely used and thought the Roku would work. It is fabulous. So easy to set up and it quickly connects to Netflix and lots of other channels. I plan to get another one for my office.

Better than paying for satellite or cable!!!

I have had it about 5 months and love it!!! There are so many channels to watch. Hundreds and hundreds of different programs. So much more than satellite ever gave me. I can choose my own channels and not have to buy ones I never wanted in the first place! The only thing I miss is my local news channels. They have them but they are streaming and kinda messed up. Outside of that I'm hooked................

Disappointing

I have an old Roku XD a long time ago. I was very impressed with it, so I purchased the Roku 1 to add to another room in the house. It has not worked very well at all. It failed to load and kept stopping in the middle of songs and movies. I had to unplug it and plug it back in several times for it to work. I decided to switch the old with the new and the old XD keeps working (in the spot that the Roku 1 was). I placed the Roku 1 closer to the wifi and it seems to do better but what a DISAPPOINTMENT.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
