Easy to Operate

Purchased out of curiosity. Some difficulty in setup due to passwords. Menu is substantial and easy to navigate. Picture quality has been execellent. Would like to replace cable with Roku, but suspect bandwidth streaming usage charges in near future will negate any cost advantages. I'm over 70 years old - a no-brainer for seniors. It's fun to use. Again, very little info on net regarding bandwith charges. Why don't you folks go into the bandwidth business?

A Great Alternative to Basic Cable TV

I bought the Roku 1 player to replace my expensive cable bill. I rarely watch TV and I hate channel surfing. I know what I want to watch and I want to watch them on my own terms without ads. Roku 1 was a great choice. I looked at Google Chromecast as well but I liked that Roku offered more choices not to mention an actual dedicated remote control (in addition to the mobile app). And now it features YouTube which was one of the missing features when I bought it. And now it's just that much better.
I wish I could save various shows/movies from various apps into one single app. Otherwise I spend too much time digging through different apps to figure out which TV shows/movies I saved and where. I hope Roku addresses this soon. And while the physical remote is great, I hate the shape. The rounded back tilts back and forth on the coffee table, which is super annoying. A flat back would resolve this problem easily. Otherwise I can also use my iPhone app to control the device as well.
Otherwise it's a great product, works well, and allows me to enjoy my TV that much more.

Two different types of excellent ROKU products

I've had 2 ROKU units for about a year or so. One ROKU is a less expensive unit but it works just as great as the more expensive unit. If you live alone, the less expensive is great BUT - if you have MORE THAN ONE VIEWER IN YOUR HOME (such as a family room TV), get the more expensive unit. WHY? Because the extra features on the more expensive unit will enable you to set up multiple users so ROKU can track/recommend separately. I love both ROKU units and only wish everything else I have ran as well. If you're shopping, LOOK NO FURTHER.

Easy to use!

I bought my Roku 1 about 6 months ago and have been very pleased with it. It is very user friendly and the quality is great! I use Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, YouTube etc. without any issues. It was very easy to install and simple to use once installed.
Improvements can be made by addressing the occasional loud static noise that comes on some commercials and add the ability to use subtitles more often. I would also like to ability to watch Netflix shows without having to press OK after each episode. Hulu Plus will auto play to the next eipsode!
The new app for the iphone is GREAT!!!!

I bought this for my wife who is a Netflix subscriber. She cancelled her disk and changed to a streaming subscription and absolutely loves her Roku 1. I didn't think my older tv would work because it did not have hdmi ports but with Roku 1 the composite ports work excellent. What a great and inexpensive way to make your older hdtv a "smart" tv!

I have had my Roku about a year, and it hasn't given me one issue. It setup easily, it works all the time and has more content than I can possibly use. I don't miss not having to pay for cable, something I don't have time to watch.
