I bought one of these to replace a dead home built media pc, and it does everything I need it to do. The internet is my only source of entertainment, and this box provides me with everything I need. The three most used apps on my Roku are Netflix, Amazon, and Plex.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was a gift from my son. I love it! It is small and unobtrusive. It was very easy to set up. I get dozens of free channels. It is really great and there is always something to watch.

I purchased this to cut the cable, like most people. The "free" channels are not ones I really would be interested in, I can do just about the same thing by hooking my laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable.

I think the Roku design program works pretty well for most people, very simple to set up and use, and flexible enough to help set the standard for access to the many streaming services coming online. (It's a pity that almost all of them are useless, but that's not your fault.) Where I'd like to see improvement is in quality delivery.
We live in an area with relatively weak broadband choices, and shifts in traffic can slow us down. We frequently experience interruptions in the program while the unit ratchets down to accommodate the current speed, even when the problem is transient. I'd like to see the next generation built with a lot more memory and the ability to sense packet speed trends and preload programs for delivery at highest visual quality at any speed. I'd much rather wait for the program to load than have it interrupted, and low-def programming is increasingly difficult to tolerate on a large screen.

What a nifty little toy....wasy to install and use...and gives me access to NetFlix etc. when nothing on the TV interests me.

We've had our Roku for a couple years now. We have upgraded once an now have three in the house. We've used other streaming devices, but none measure up to the Roku. My only gripe in the beginning was the lack of a YouTube presence, but that has been corrected. I recommend this to anyone looking to rid themselves of the shackles of cable TV. Have probably sold five people on the device, including my non-techie mother-in-law. I feel about the Roku how I used to feel about my TiVo.
