Less than amazing

We bought an original Roku when they first came out a of couple years ago. Since then, they have released these three new versions-- honestly, I don't understand why they felt the need to do this. All I know, is the original Roku, which we still have in our bedroom, seemed to run much smoother. Things as simple as scrolling through the Roku menu, seem to go so slow and freeze up on the new one. Additionally, the newer menu system in general seems to be super laggy. It regularly causes freezing up (screen just turns black), and then reboots the Roku. When I go check out the actual devise, it's always scorching hot. I've tried elevating it, as to allow it to cool better--- no difference.
Honestly, considering other devices to replace this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great product but

I love the freedom of choices however where I live I am not able to have cable and cannot afford satellite TV so there are a few shows I'm not able to watch because one has to sign in to their service provider to watch them. As far as the Roku, it Is assume. Streams Netflix I use my phone as a remote. A great investment.
