I purchased my ROKU after seeing one at a friend's home. I love being about to play my Amazon videos on the tv this way!

I bought my roku last March, and I'm absolutely thrilled that I did. I watch lots of TV and I'm no where near exhausting what's available. Plus new stuff is being added all the time.

I have owned 3 roku 1 in the past year and all have gone bad. To me, this is a real piece of junk. I am going to buy another one tomorrow, but it sure as heck won't be a roku.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Received as a gift. Surprised how much there is to watch. My wife watched West Wing almost non-stop.

This thing is the least expensive way to reliably stream TV and avoid cable/satellite. I've enjoyed some of the free indie/cult film content, but many of the specialized channels are fluff. What does get used is the MR GO movie service which is pay-per-view. I'd use Netflix if I watched more TV, but so far I can get what I want w/o subscription fees. The Roku 1 is also bone-simple to set-up. The remote is very good, although I miss the headphone jack available in the Roku 2.

I really love my Roku 1 and eventually, I want to upgrade to a Roku 3. There are a lot of channels/programming to choose from, some are for a fee, but basically all the channels are free, just some of the programming there is a fee for.
It loads quickly, and rarely does my streaming pause and I only have a 3 mbps DSL connection. I can't afford to get a lot of channels with my TV provider, so it is nice to be able to see some other programming that I can't get with my TV provider.
