I have a roku # 2 and 2 roku #1. All work good. Had 1 remote fail, replaced under warranty, no problems since. Cut the calble bill to basic. Found I didn't need cable throughout the house, downstreaming to the bedroom and man cave is more than enough.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was hopping to see TV channels that played TV shows not just short clips from internet that I can get from laptop and the movie apps are so outdated its not funny
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great channels

I bought this on Black Friday, 2014, and just love it. It has many free channels to watch. Plus channels like Hulu plus offer three months free to try out. This beats cable, and you don't pay a dime per month. The only draw back is live streaming. If you want to watch your local news live, you better invest in an antenna, or watch it live off of your PC if you can. Other than that I totally love my Roku.

I bought this because I am always on the go and don't get to watch tv as much as I would like. It works great for me, while saving me money, because I watch my favorites when I have time.
