Have used my roku every day since I bought it less than a month ago! Love it's ease of use and smart features! Also love the app with remote feature since I've misplaced my remote already!!

I enjoy my Roku 1. It is awesome to be able watch HBG, ESPN, and Netflix. I cut cable, and don't miss it. My only gripe is the poor user interface.

I bought this and am happy we did. The only thing that I wish was clearer with these as well as things like Hulu and chrome is that you still have to have cable to utilize these services. Totally ridiculous- I would rather pay a small fee to stream it than to pay for cable and the fee plus and purchase a device to stream it. However, sorry for the rant- I love the Roku and the free items it does have as well as being able to stream netfilix.

My take on Roku

Some channels like SyFy offer what I would call commercials for their shows. I mean the longest selection is 3 minutes. And there are several like that. Some channels don't tell you upfront there is a cost for their shows. I like turning the tv on a favorite channel and leave it on most of the day on the weekends. Here you have to keep selecting another episode. Mostly disappointed with the purchase.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Still need tv provider for most channels

Got roku to cut costs because we all know cable and satellite prices are getting so expensive. I was told we could get the channels we watch for a one time payment of roku instead of paying monthly for cable. Selected all the channels we wanted, but they still require you to subscribe to cable or satellite. Only get a few episodes of every show on the channels then u have to pay more to unlock more episodes. So we ended up buying netflix and Hulu, shows are very limited. So, roku is great if you just use it to enhance what you already have and don't have to worry about money. Don't expect to get any channels though unless you pay a tv network

I have 2 Roku 1 players. I enjoy them. However, I did purchase an additional signal booster because my WIFI is located upstairs. This helped somewhat.
Still freezes and then reloads. It may just be the congested area in which I live but overall, I am satisfied.

Worlds of availabile content

We have been increasingly dissatisfied with the content available to us through our local cable provider. Our nephew gave us a Roku unit as a gift. We've discovered that we can use the device to get to content on Netflix, Hulu and even our cable services provider.
The device is very easy to use. Both the picture and the sound quality are better than what we were getting from the cable services provider.
I can and do recommend Roku.
