I had never heard of a Roku until my son explained it to me. He ordered it, hooked it up and now I'm hooked on it! Love it, love it, love it!!

No problem setting up, however seems a little cluttered. Week after operating remote quit however the app can be downloaded to a smartphone or iPad

I have a Roku 1 and I have noticed that when I have 1080p selected in the display type settings, and watching Netflix (that's really all I use the Roku for), the picture will occasionally have a quick "jump" or flicker" during playback. This will VERY RARELY do it when set on 720p, but still does it from time to time. It's MUCH better than if on 1080, though. Roku was nice enough to send me a brand new one for free (even after my warranty was expired) as they thought my unit was defective. However, my replacement unit does the exact same thing, which leads me to believe that the processor in the Roku 1 isn't quite optimized for 1080p. The Netflix app on my smart tv does not have this issue in 1080 and the processor on my tv is MUCH slower than my Roku player. So it could be the Netflix app itself only on the Roku 1, since it does not get updated like on the 2 or 3 as I have read. It's not a huge issue, but it is a little annoying. I just leave it on 720p and it's not much of an issue. So if that is something that you think will annoy you and are gung ho on using 1080, then maybe try the Roku 2, since it has a faster processor and may be the solution to this problem. If you're fine with using 720p and want to save a few $ then you'll be fine with the Roku 1.

FOR OLD FILM LOVERS the access to films HAS BEEN MUCH IMPROVED over the built in apps from a new Panasonic television: allows apps to netflix; hulu; warner bros; amazon prime; pbs; etc. with speed and consistent readability. Very happy with the results...
