I bought the Roku 1 about a month or two ago and I love it! The basic channels I got were Pandora, Netflix(duh), crackle, and YouTube. The only few things I didn't like, which can't really be helped by the roku makers is the fact that a lot of the channels you buy, you have to have already paid for and have a cable account for such as HBO, NatGeo, etc. The other and probably last reason would be the fact that on the Netflix channel for this particular roku, you don't get to choose the viewer profile if you have more than one profile set up on your account. Other than that I absolutely love it. It's easy to use, so far it hasn't crashed at all on me, it's got easy access buttons on the remote for Netlix, and plenty of channels to select from or buy.

Better than a smart TV for streaming

We have a Roku at our winter home in Florida. We enjoyed the streaming, especially from Netpix and Acorn TV. Our 23 year old CRT TV in Illinois was about to give up the ghost, so we updated and bought a smartTV. However, it couldn't keep up with the streaming and we wound up buying another Roku 1 for streaming on the smart TV.

Great alternative to cable TV!

Got this as a gift from our daughter and we can't believe how much is available for FREE or for a small payment! We cut the cable cord quite a while ago and this offers so much more than the regular network programming.

First time to buy a streaming device as I am a confirmed Netflix DVD user due to the vast library of foreign TV programs that only have a limited representation on the various streaming supplier menus.
As an Amazon prime member I have yet to actually pay for anything I have watched through the Roku device - but it might come to that. Just as convenient as the DVD's I can pause and pick up the program the following night. It's just such a pity that most new studio movies are made for double digit IQ teens who thrive on anything with a high calorie content and zero nutrition (apologies for the food analogy).

Great Features, User Friendly!

I bought my first ROKU over a year ago and I loved it. I decided to buy one for the other TV in my home and I have had it for about 2 months. It is even better than the first. I like the variety of streaming channels available. I even like the time display when the ROKU has not been used for a while. I had previously used a Wii game and a blue ray player for streaming channels. The ROKU is so much better! It will update with more channels easier. I love my ROKU...the cheapest one.
