I bought this a month ago and I enjoy every minute of it plus I am not a bill on cable or satellite every month that is to high I can watch what I want to watch not what is put on cable. A friend was tell me about it I love it

Its Not Bad

Its limited to Video Formats makes it useless if you want to watch movies that are not not in the limited format this device plays. Work arounds are very complex and defeat the purpose of using it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I HAD ANOTHER TYPE OF MOVIE PLAYER, I HADN'T BEEN ABLE TO WATCH MY NET FLICKS IN 6 MONTHS. MY SON TURNED ME ON TO THE ROKU, I'VE NEVER BEEN MORE PLEASED. I AM NOT WIRED FOR ELECTRONICS, ITS EASY TO USE I LOVE IT!

Perfect for older TVs

I cut the cord about 18 months ago and decided to just use antenna TV and Internet TV instead. I already owned a Roku and have used it for a couple of years. I purchased this Roku 1 specifically because of the RCA audio output. This box was meant for a relative in their 80s who is hard of hearing and I needed the RCA audio out to plug into a wireless headset. I still was able to plug the HDMI cable into the Roku and directly into the TV which gave me the picture and sound. That way others who are watching the same program do not have to turn the TV up as loud and the person who is hard of hearing could use their headphones. I specifically chose the newer Roku because of the 1080i capability.
I already had an older Roku XD hooked up to my own television which had the RCA jacks as well. When I received the Roku 1 I plugged it into my television to set up everything first. There really wasn't much of a difference in picture or choice of channels so I decided to keep the Roku on my television and leave the old Roku XD on the intended television. Since I don't play any games I felt I didn't need anything fancier.
I really love the choice of channels including private channels and even with a 6 Mb Internet speed we are able to run both Rokus at the same time with no problem 98% of the time. I highly recommend this Roku 1 for anyone who just needs the channels and is not a gamer.

So easy to use!

I had been using a different product and the Roku is so much better in many ways. Fast loading, clear instructions that an elderly lady can use! I am enjoying it so much. One of the best entertainment products I have bought.

My husband and I bought this about one month ago and we use it non-stop. We have hardly used our cable TV at all. We use Netflix's and we have used some of the other apps that Roku offers. It was really easy to us and install. So glad we purchased it.
