I bought the Roku 1 because I had an older Roku that performed well. The older one still performs well but the Roku 1 seldom works. I have to keep resetting it. It can't connect to my WIFI 70% of the time. It is very frustrating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just love the series of TV shows

My son bought this for me for Mother's Day . I am handicapped and almost 24/7 in the house so I treasure this very much. After my 5 year old granddaughter showed me how to work every thing as she too has one along with my son.
It is great and I cannot believe how easy it is to enjoy and operate as I am in my 70s

Amazing!

We live out in the country so our only option with TV is either antenna or satellite. We finally got internet hooked up and got a Roku box to stream Netflix. I absolutely love being able to stream Netflix on my tv now vs having to watch only on our phones. I fell in love with Roku because of all the options we have to stream and not having to have an outrageous satellite bill! If I could change anything I would like to see Roku offer the option to stream YouTube as well.

Overall the product works fine. My problem is when watching Netflix. My other devices (tablet, Smart TV) ask 'Who is watching Netflix?" You can control content for children as well as not overlaying something multiple people may be watching (season/episode). Also no power switch.
I would recommend this to a friend!
