This was easy enough to use that the youngest and oldest of the family had no trouble learning how to navigate the modern way of tv watching.

I don't use cutting edge equipment and my computer/internet skills are moderate. This first-generation device was economical, did not require any more purchases, and works exactly as it was described.

I have 2 of the Roku 1 . pretty happy with the product with one exception. The unit that is closest to my wifi is actually slower than the one that is upstairs.. Swapped them and its definitely the unit. So I guess a bit more consistency in the manufactured parts would be my only complaint.. Other wise love the concept..

Cut my cable cord a month ago and I couldn't be happier. Roku was so easy to set up. I am a news junkie, so my only reservation about leaving cable was that I would not be able to keep apprised of what was happening. Roku has a channel titled LiveStream which allows me to view two of my local news shows broadcast in real time. It also carries two broadcast stations news broadcasts in real time from the area I moved from last Fall. Roku also has NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox news channels. CBSN offers live streaming 24/7 of news events. These four channels also carry the news shows I thought I might be sacrificing. Chris Matthews, Face the Nation, Meet the Press, Fox News Sunday plus many, many more. On cable there are so many channels available, and there were only about 10 or so that I would view. So I was paying for all these extra channels which I had no interest in. I signed up for Netflix and HuluPlus, and there is so much content on those two sites, I know am able to watch shows I truly love anytime I feel like it. I will be recommending Roku to all my friends, even if the decide to not cut their cable cord. Plus Roku is a very reasonable purchase. I would say it is a real bargain, and in today's world they are hard to come by. PEACE. JK

Dragons-obsessed geek girl still stuck in the age of ANALOG TV finds out that Netflix now owns the streaming rights to DreamWorks Dragons: Race to the Edge instead it being on cable TV. How will she live, what will she do? Girl goes to big blue & yellow box store, pours her heart out to sympathetic techie, who hands technologically challenged geek girl little square box called ROKU & assures her that she CAN connect this to her ANALOG TV successfully. Girl eyes techie skeptically, buys little square box, takes it home and hooks it up to her ANALOG TV - successfully. Over-the-moon dragons-obsessed geek girl happily watches Dragons: Race to the Edge on her very smart ANALOG TV, and gives her ROKU a kiss goodnight each and every night thereafter.
