The first version where it is directly connected with wire is still working well. I wanted to try wifi one but it never works with wifi.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to use but slow

I have had my roku for a year now and love it but I constantly have to unplug and restart my roku in order for it to work. Sometimes my roku can be very slow but it is incredibly easy to use. I thought maybe it was just my roku acting up but after purchasing my grandma one she started experiencing the same problems after a week!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Was bought for us by daughter and it is a very nice piece of technology once you figure out how to set it up. It took almost a day to get it aligned with the motom because of the new language used by the world of technology. It seems as though you people asked for a password off the Cent. Link motom which by language discretion there isn't one.After many numbers and hours and foul language it turned out to be that number on the motom to make it all work is called a PASSPHRASE. Can't you people work together and come up with a common language like the terminology used for many years in the past which means the same thing. Thank you

I love my new Roku! I added Netflix and Hulu.I have downloaded over 450 channels and still counting.Youtube and digital music stations are a plus! I found all my favorite classic movies in two nights.Try Roku! You'll love it!!!

Awesome channels and easy setup for a great price!

I just bought it today as a replacement for another media streaming player from another well known company. I love the channel selection and can't wait for more the networks and other companies to make more content available via the internet. Set up was super easy, simply plug in, turn on your tv, type in your wifi password and away you go. Granted there's a few more setup items but nothing that is even remotely technical. Simply activate the roku so that its associated to your system and it's practically lightning fast. I added channels via roku.com and added more via the roku remote. I only wish YouTube was available. That was a channel that was available on the D-Link MovieNite I had purchased. However it truly only had about three usable channels out of four. Once I realized how limited it was I was more than willing to pay a bit extra for Roku with a much larger channel selection.

I have had the roku since the first one came out and just had to have a new one.It is super fast and very easy to use.I had mine up and running in around 10 minutes and it gets used everyday as i did away with my cable tv and never looked back.Getting ready to purchase another one.

The Roku 1 is easy to set up and loaded with great home entertainment options at a great price. Has great program content for free especially kids programs.
