My wife bought this for me as an anniversary present, I love it works well over wifi. Picks up a lot of free channels and the Mgo service which is roku own movie service is great and I will use that to rent my movies online in the future because you accumulate points for each rental and they have all the latest movies .
I would recommend this to a friend!

I originally bought just the roku stick for my Livingroom and it's awesome so i bought the roku 1 for my daughter's room and it doesn't seem to work as well. Can't view different Netflix profiles nor can you use the remote from anywhere in the room as you can with just the plain stick... So im really not that pleased with the more expensive ones...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Switched from cable to roku

I bought this a month ago and since then I cancelled my cable and I miss my shows but I haven't had a problem finding things to watch . I love the roku it's easy to use and I have a hd TV and I was able to hook it up easy and my cable is standered it works perfect ! Truly content with roku 1 box

INFERIOR TO THE "STICK"

I returned the Roku 1. Already had a "Stick" and it is wonderful. Thing is I thought I could employ the A/V output of the "1" to facilitate better audio options because of my Receiver. Found that the Roku 1 was far inferior in picture quality to the "Stick".
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Kept going back & forth on all the options. Decided on this one on its many channels & ease of use. And of course price! I've not been disappointed.

some of the less popular channels are slow to respond, but you'll never find so much to pick from to watch. I like the way it keeps up w/which episode of a show i got to. over 1500+ channels are advertised but I've only found a couple hundred but i I can only watch one at a time anyway. ROKU is TV LOVER'S HEAVEN. I subscribe to commercial free Hulu+, and CBS AllAccess. with CBS News Live 24/7, at least three weather channels that zooms in on my weather, and all the other movie channels, tv channels, and shows I have not seen or heard of since I was a child, only one thing more I could ask for: if you could get my local news channel WYMT News in Hazard, Kentucky to come in on CBS All Access. Thank GOD and You for ROKU.
