I purchased the Roku to be able to have choice with what we WANT to watch vs. what is offered on cable. Great investment for all of the family.

Great option for the price and people with old TVs

Bought this as the box says it doesn't require a HDMI cable. It is cheaper than an Apple TV, is easy to install and does the job well. However, I feel as people in my region (Quebec) are disadvantage as far as the choice for channels go, I stuck with Netflix and Youtube as all the interesting ones were not available here.

Only Roku for old tv

The remote is not as responsive as those for the roku xs or roku 3. The roku 1 has no ethernet connection.The xs worked with old and new tvs, ethernet or wifi, hdmi or rca. Bring it back.

Makes Internet tv easy!

I've owned a Roku 1 that's hooked up in the living room for about 18 months and I really love it! I gave up cable and have a subscription to Hulu and netflix and can watch tons of stuff! I just bought another Roku 1 to watch in the bedroom so perhaps I should have originally purchased the 2 or 3 but I'm still very happy

I initially bought a Roku because my husband and I love movies. Unfortunately there are not always good ones coming out or anything that would interest us. My daughter told us about the Streaming boxes so I found Roku and liked how reasonably priced it was and all it offers....I had my son install it and we loved all the channel choices. We loved it so much I bought another for the guest room which works well when my children or grandchildren visit. I plan to buy another for our bedroom.... best of all you don't have to be tech savvy...it has clear instructions anyone can follow.
