Bought the Roku 1 for an older 720P/1080I 26" HDTV. Works flawlessly and lots of streaming channels to choose from. Can't wait to get the Roku 4 for my 4K TV.

Works Very Well On My Old 1980's Hitachi Color TV

The Roku 1 player is great for people like myself who have an older, non-digital TV hanging around a bedroom. The GUI is similar yet different to the Roku 3, which we use for our family room TV. One Roku account connects both players to whatever you've loaded onto the first player.
The only qualm I have with the Roku 1 is that sometimes it's frozen or has been slow to load the service I selected. This requires that I unplug the player for 10 seconds to reset it, then after reconnecting wait a few minutes for it to reload. Typically the problem has been resolved.
The video and sound are excellent but the Roku 1 is connected to a TV with standard video definition and stereo sound. The Roku 3 on your family room TV streams video in 720p (I've read the Roklu 3 supports 1080p but not yet sure how to configure that on the player yet) and can reproduce audio in 5.1 surround sound.
Also, Roku offers a lot of free channels either preloaded or for adding to the player. Some are good, many are a waste of time, and just about all have too many commercial breaks so we rarely watch them.
But for the majority of the time the player works very well. Glad I bought it since it's doing exactly what I wanted it to do.

Exactly what we needed

We needed a Roku to access certain websites on our TV. Our granddaughter has a Roku 3, which we all like very much. However, our TV didn't not have any more HDMI slots available so the 3 wouldn't work for us. Roku 1 was exactly what we needed. Our only difficulty has been in accessing Netflix. However, since we can access it on our DVD player, we haven't tried to find a solution.

I bought mine a month ago and I wish I had not. It's very confusing for me. I am not a genius but I should not have to be to use this product. hooking it up is not the problem.
Trying to get to where you need to be seems impossible. Trying to find what you want to see seems impossible. I was hoping I would be able to use this but that also seems impossible. And on top of everything else it is slower than I am.

Love my Roku 1

I bought this last month and love the versatility of this devise. I've downloaded many free channels and some for pay channels that are great. There is almost no end to what can be viewed with this devise. I'm enjoying Netflix, Pure Flix, UTube, and a host of other free streaming channels!
