I bought this about a month ago and am really happy with it. I had the tech team help me set it up (I am a old lady) and they were so helpful and would not even hang up until I had the Roku completely set up and was able to watch a show. Now that is what I call great service, something you just find very often these days...
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pleasantly surprised

I purchased this item to use with an old async television. Since it's a "Roku 1" I thought that meant it was an obsolete model. I was pleasantly surprised to see it had all (or most) of the features of most current Roku models like YouTube, Twitch.tv, etc. so I actually got more than I bargained for!

Worked great with old TV without HDMI

I cut the cable and use Netflix and Amazon Prime. I thought I needed a smart TV, but Roku 1 had all the connections needed (yellow, red, white) and now I can stream wirelessly from Amazon Prime and Netflix. Glad I didn't buy a new tv!!!!

acceptable alternative to cable

I purchased the Roku 1 to replace Comcast cable. The remote has a Netflix button. Once you press the button Netflix icon appear on your television screen but it never connects. The only other detractor is that if you enjoy your television to play all night eventually Roku ask if you are still there and you then need to select a different movie, show, etc.

Better than the HDMI Roku

This Roku version is a much better upgrade from the HDMI version of Roku. It's definitely much more intuitive. It also works pretty well with the TimeWarner Cable app. I was pretty surprised by that. Other than that, job well done.
