Great for streaming all day long

We love roku boxes. We have 1 in every room with a tv. So here that's 6. As well as 2 daughters in college that also have one. There great. Netflix. Amazon prime. Plus it gets new channels all the time. Unfortunately this particular box quit streaming 1 year into owning it. That has happened with a few of our boxes. We have been using roku so for a few years now. I have a brand new now. Hoping it will last longer than some of the older versions.

Works well for Netflix on my older TV

Roku does work well. And I don't have any issues with it... not really. Roku works well for my Netflix streaming on my TV, but I wish there were more free things to do with it. Such as viewing my free Hulu videos too. There are too many things that want money for this and that. I am not about to go into debt by purchasing all of them just to be able to view them through Roku... or even on my computer.
Roku's box advertises 2,000+ streaming channels, but in reality you are lucky to find a handful of them unless you want to pay money to get them. In today's world and economy, paying for every channel/feature available (or even a handful of them) is not wise and will not happen for me.
The online setup process took longer than I anticipated and was disappointing with the number of "pay" channels there were, even if they come across as "free". The "free" tends to be clips or previews of shows/movies, but nothing worth watching (like a show/movie).
One other thing, I happen to have cable internet, which works really well with Roku. However, I also hooked the Roku up at my parents' place. While it worked on their DSL connection, it had a lot of interruptions during movies/shows and also delays when loading the shows/movies or when rewinding/fast-forwarding.
Also, fair warning, you MUST provide a credit card number, there is no option here, even if you are already paying for something like Netflix. Fortunately, there is a feature to you can set to lock this out somewhat and no charges are hidden or made unless you "approve" them. Make sure you set this up though, or anyone can choose something that will be charged to your credit card.
All-in-all, Roku works well, so long as you pay for a product (or products) such as Netflix.

I have resisted updating my tech. devices, since they still work! But I really wanted to watch a specific tv channel, only available using a Roku. I was so pleasantly surprised when I found the Roku1, which is able to work with an OLD TV. I set it up, found my channel.... I will say that if I had a newer TV, it wouldn't periodically stop to download more, but I knew that going in. I am able to watch specifically what I wanted - it's the most 'modern' piece of tech I have :)
