I am NOT happy with the selections offered. It used to offer genres. Now it offers "Because you watched" this, you may like THIS!!!!! This is NO help. We have to shuffle thru several titles. Some of which, I have no idea what they are. PLEASE put it back the way it was. Thanks for your consideration. Tony

My friends kept telling me that I needed this but I resisted for a long time. I have a really old tv so just wasn't sure. I have been using rabbit ears and got pretty good reception unless the weather wasn't co-operating. I bought Roku 1 and wish I had done it sooner! My grandkids visit on the weekends and it has been awesome for them as well as myself.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Same as the SE for double the price!

About a month after I replaced my original ROKU with the Roku1 I got an email for the SE which, as far as I can tell, is the same as the Roku1. So get the SE and save!

Great for older tv's

I already had a Roku 3 (hdmi) for my flat screen tv, but I needed 1 for my older projection tv. The Roku 1 w/ RCA cable output works perfectly. Of course I would love to have gotten a Roku 3 with composite (rgb) output, I am happy to have the Roku 1 and the use of this tv.

I have the roku 1.i love it. I already have a Netflix account so I can just stream it on my TV. I didn't want a cable bill that really isn't worth it to me so I use the roku and watch plenty of shows and movies on it. Some channels are free and some aren't but it still beats a cable bill.

Great alternative to cable...

I bought my ROKU two months ago and I am happy I did. We live in this house two or three months a year and cable is too much work to start and stop service. My wife and I have found ROKU an excellent source of movies and news. The setup is a bit tedious, but worth the effort. Once setup, even my wife can navigate and find movies to watch. I have 6 MPS internet speed and never had a problem.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not Compatible with Time Warner

The ROKU its self is very good and plays Netflix and other apps great. However it is not compatible with the Time Warner app and TWC states so when setting up the app. The ROKU has to keep buffering to play live TV. The TWC app suggests the ROKU 2 or higher in order to view TWC. So I returned the unit and got the 2. Have not installed it as yet but thinking all should go well.
