I like the roku 1. formerly I used a Nintendo wii to capture streaming services. it was a lot simpler and easy to use. navigating with the roku 1 seems awkward in comparison.

I bought an original Roku a few years ago and fell in love with it. Eventually, it became outdated and I was forced to upgrade. Of course, I am not one to drool over all the bells and whistles. I prefer simplicity. So, I took the least "up"grade I could: the Roku 1. I love that it is a nearly identical experience to my original Roku but better. However, I cannot give this thing 5 stars because I HATE THE REMOTE. Apparently, Roku has fallen victim to the urge to fix something that wasn't broken. The original remote had only five buttons on it. It was delightfully simple! Now there are buttons I will never use, like "rdio" and "mgo." I have to actually look at the remote now instead of just punching buttons by memory. My hubby keeps hitting the Netflix button in his effort to rewind a show. I know it seems petty, but darn it Roku, you've let me down! Please go back to offering an un-cluttered, simple, 5-button remote with all the garbage on it!

I use my Roku 1 on a daily basis and there are several shows I enjoy streaming. I have recently had a problem with it freezing up on me after about 2 hours of use. The Roku feels very hot and I'm wondering if that is an issue with this particular model.
The good points are, there is no skipping while streaming, things load quickly. I haven't had time to go to all the stations that are on it. Some are free and others there is a charge for. You are told about this up front, so there are no surprises.
