We have been using this for about a month now. It wasn't hard to set up and is very easy to use. We love the variety of apps and shows to watch. So happy with it.

Exactly what i expected

Bought this for my mom, who is not very technically hip. It works great. Hooked up to an old tv via ole yellow white red aux cables just like a DVD player. My mom could do it herself. Easy for her to navigate with the remote. Now she's binge watched all our shows! Love it!

Same features - slower speed

I bought this unit to place on another TV. My first Roku was a Roku2 and I didn't need the earphone feature for the other TV. What I found is that it will get the same channels/feeds but seems much slower to load even though the signal strength is better for the Roku1 than the Roku2. It does better on episodic shows than live streaming.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's good!

We got it about a month ago, I think the biggest frustration I have is how it turns off after so long, I leave the TV on for my dogs when not home and if gone longer than a couple of hours I come home to a silent house. My dogs are rescue dogs from an abusive home and the noise helps them.
Other than that its OK I'm still learning it, apparently there's parental lock stuff there's a bunch of stuff I have no idea about in it, a book/manual would have been great!!
