Purple screen, bought new TV, new HDMI cable, still purple screen. Unauthorized content. Go figure.

bought over a monnth ago tired of paying dish bills that seem to keep going up and nothing really on. so far netflix ok hulu at my age hard to see the movie titles and captions on what the movie is about, thinking of trying another on and deleting hulu. somewhat confused at to what is free and what is trail period. so am being very careful. ss does not allow of expenses for entainment. cutting everything, so thats for the roku that is working fine and dandy

We got a Roku about a month ago and are hooked. After not having cable for a couple of years it has been wonderful. Already had Netflix and Amazon Prime prior to purchasing the Roku and now with SlingTV we can watch all of our favorites.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy set up, great features

I purchased the special edition Roku on Black Friday that was offered by Walmart.
I am not all that tech savvy, the directions are easy to follow. The features are great. I get more than enough local channels, as I do not have cable. I installed it on a Vizio 48" flat screen, using a clear tv flat antenna. There is plenty of variety to watch between Netflix, Huluplus,HBO Go and Showtime. They are paid subscriptions, but I signed up for 30-day free trials, to decide which ones were worth it. I also downloaded IHeart Radio, and can pick and choose streaming music, in addition to Pandora.
I am very happy with the Roku, don't hesitate to buy one. Best alternative to cutting the cable bill.

Nice Basic Unit

Have several Rokus, and when this Roku1 came on sale in Dec 15, I jumped at getting one.
Works as well as my other units with the following exceptions/irritants:
remote requires line-of sight;
every 3-4 startups, the unit requires reboot do to loss of sound.
I would suggest Roku change the remote, or for the buyer.. spend more for a higher level unit.
