We have a ROKU stick which is great, so we bought a ROKU 1 thinking it would be just a great, but when we went to Netflix it wouldn't allow us to select profiles, so for a family, this is not too useful.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We bought our newer roku for a better 1080 dpi picture on all programs. And we have not been disappointed one day. Even when out internet started turning off at 5:55 p.m. Everyday for 2 weeks. I would watch during the day holding my breath that the show I was watching in stunning 1080 would not end before 5:55!
All fixed now and still loving all of our roku's!

I bought the Roku SE (1) for an older tv and it works just as good as my Roku 3. Easy setup and easy to use.

This is our third Roku purchase. First we purchased a Roku smart t.v. then we purchased a Roku usb stick. They are very easy to use and lots of programming choices are available. We went to the basic package for our DISH subscription and get most of our entertainment from our Roku devises. I would and do recommend them to all of my friends and family.
