I really like this but my only issue is that I wish I could see my favourite shows like hgtv and travel channel for free since I don't have cable

Great Features but Netflix is a downside

I bought this around Christmas time, and have loved it for the most part. There are a few downsides though. One being the set up was really difficult, it was very very slow. Also, if you are attempting to hook up Netflix you are only able to hook it up to the main owners account. There is no way to attach it to a different account.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Too much to content to watch!

Roku has saved my my living room. Instead of just passing through it ignoring the TV we now gather and debate over which movie to watch. With so much content boredom is not an option. :)

Not bad as a gift

I got this for Christmas, I already have a Roku 3 and love it. My Sister in-law didn't know this was a lot different then the 3 when she got it on black Friday and this gift was intended for someone else but I was asked if I could use it when the other person got one from someone else. The one thing that bugs me is when I hooked the Roku 1 up to the bedroom TV the channels were not changing, what I didn't know was that this bare bones unit uses an IR signal so you need to point the remote at the unit, so old fashioned. The wireless I assume Bluetooth connection of the Roku 3 is sweet and is what I use on our living room TV. I do plan to buy the Roku 4K as we have a 4K TV in the theater/entertainment area. So where I would give the Roku 3 5 stars this gets 3 as needing to point the remote is annoying.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
