Work ok for a while but this version doesn't have dual broadband connection. Going to get a roku 2 and see if it's faster.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Purchased a Roku 1 as a Christmas gift for our household and it is awesome! We spent Christmas Day enjoying specials from the 70's that were available on you tube. You simply cannot top being able to watch what you want when you want, not whatever the cable company chooses to present.

Just having basic cable in one room was so expensive. As a second shift worker, there was never anything on late at night. So I was paying for a service I didn't use. Now I can watch what I want, when I want. The only minor complaint is not being able to change the Netflix profile.
