No power

This Is the second exact make and model GE microwave that I have purchased. The first was purchased in May 2016. It worked great and as expect for 18 months. Just out of the warranty period. Then in January 2018, it suddenly lost power. Knowing that the warranty period was over, I once again, against family advice purchased the same exact microwave again. This was purchased February 2018. I installed it and once again it worked great and the family was definitely satisfied.
Fast forward to tonight, Christmas Eve, 21 months after purchase and installation, it lost power once again, while trying to warm up tamales, SMH. I have always purchased, trusted and used GE products. I think now I might have to rethink my product choices.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hoping for better on my second purchase

It is important to read my written review in addition to noting the limited multiple choice selections offered here. I purchased this exact model in August, 2018. It lasted 16 months. The only reasons I am taking a chance on replacing it with the same model: installation should not require alterations to mounting hardware or ventilation; it is reasonably priced so more cost-effective to replace than repair; it has the basic features I need in a microwave; I have had generally good experience with GE products before. I hope to get more than 16 months of service out of this one (4 months after the expiration of the manufacturers warranty).

Easy to use and nice appearance

Straight forward installation but some skill is recommended. Microwave oven has nice features and looks good. Recommend making touch pad easier to see what your pressing, possibly a back light or brighter letters

Microwave lemon

We have had this microwave for a 1 1/2 years and it died. Before we bought it we had the same one for 4 1/2 years and it died. We had the electrical outlet and wiring to the circuit breaker replaced. So HE has no excuses. We are now looking to purchase a new, over the range, microwave, but NOT a GE Brand. If there was a no star rating that's what it would get.

Didn't Last Long

Purchased July/2016 lasted till March/2020.
Kept on popping the circuit breaker, I’m sure it would cost more to repair than get a new one. I should of listened to the Consumer Report reviews.

Trips Breaker!

Blown Fuse

It fit real well and looks nice. I thought it was pretty easy to install but I am a fairly competent DIYER. Bought and installed it in December 2017. It died in April 2020 during the COVID19 goat rope. Starting about a month ago it would trip the 20 amp circuit I had it on when we would accidentally open the door during the cook cycle. Not the GFI, but the circuit switch on the electrical panel. Then it would trip the circuit immediately after starting the cook cycle. I checked the GFI, it was good. I plugged the oven into an alternate circuit and tried to run it. Same result. Suspect it is the same door sensor and fuse that other consumers complain about. I know it is an inexpensive microwave, but 2.5 years? Obviously it is not economical to fix. I plan to get another one just because they are cheap and I already have the mount on the wall. I feel like a dog going back to its vomit, but just cannot help myself. Maybe we will get lucky this time.

I bought to replace a Whirlpool OTR microwave which I had for +10 years. Bought the GE because only one I could find in bisque. Sadly, after just 29 months the microwave has a failure, repeatedly blowing the circuit breaker. I would of gladly paid a little more for a microwave that lasts. Assembled in China, so very likely substandard components is my guess.
