Very Loud

No way to turn off vent fan and when microwaving something for more than 3 minutes it becomes very loud.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Over the range microwaves have an automatic fan feature that protects the microwave from too much heat rising from the cooktop below it. It automatically turns on at low speed if it senses too much heat. If you have turned the fan on you may find that you cannot turn it off. The fan will automatically turn off when the internal parts are cool. It may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off.

the touch panel requires a heavy touch . . .

------ the owner's manual doesn't tell you (at least ) two important things : 1) how to remove the door, and 2) how to replace the fuse (or even where it is ! ) . . .
the on-line promised in-stock delivery date was a lie . and when it didn't meet that delivery date, i had to call and try to find out where it was and when it was really going to arrive. bad show ge . . .
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased my second GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave because I had a very good experience with the first and it lasted 4 years with no issues until a power surge fried it.
My second purchase only has 6 months of service and already has started making very strange and scary noises in the time that we have used it.

Good microwave

We got this microwave because of the dimensions. We needed something that was an inch or so further from the top of the burners on the stove. It works fine and the features are good. We didn’t need anything fancy and this fits the bill. The only issue is the door is a little loose so when closing it we have to push it up so it engages.

So far So Good

Had it up for a day and so far so good. It's quieter than the old one we had. I was happily surprised that the front panel is actually only 15.5" high. Under the unit and in the middle it dips down by another half inch, which is why it says 16" high.
I would recommend this to a friend!
