The fan is very loud and runs every time the microwave is on. There should be a way to turn it off.

A fan where the internal components are located will run continuously while the microwave is in operation to constantly circulate the air to cool the working parts. Also, it's normal for the internal fan for the electronics to continue to run for a few seconds after the microwave cycle is complete, even if the door is opened. It is almost impossible to see the controls when there is limited room lighting. It is amazing that such a great product has this serious deficiency. I see that several others feel the same way. Had I known it didn't have lighted controls I would not have purchased it.

Stopped heating after 2 months

We had the microwave for about two months and it stopped heating. Took a week for a technician to come out and now the part will take two months to come in.

Quit working in 2 weeks... took a month to get a service rep. Then he didn't have part and said it would be another month just to get part then may take a week or more to come back

Great, attractive microwave

We finally had to replace our old 26 year old Panasonic over-the-range microwave with our new GE. Even though it had been 26 years since installation of the old one, we still semi-remembered how we installed it, and had little difficulty in removing it. The installation of the new GE was 'pretty easy'. The instructions up to where to drill the holes in the overhead cabinet were great. Then it became a bit foggy. We had a recessed cabinet, and the diagram/template was a bit unclear where to trim it to fit into the recessed area of the cabinet. With lots of figuring and back-figuring, and measuring from the back of the cabinet and microwave, and how far the unit stuck out beyond the cabinet, we calculated correctly. We did have to dry-fit the microwave to better figure out where the holes would be put. We're not stupid, but I thought was a bit vague in the instructions at this point. The microwave works great and has wonderful features, and looks fantastic (black) installed.

This microwave has all the basic features I need. I bought it to replace a fancier more expensive model that had so many features that I never used and it stopped working after 6 1/2 years of normal use. This model only costs 1/2 the price of the one I just replaced.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love it! Always purchase GE products. I cook my whole potatoes in much less time than the oven. Use for heating leftovers too.
