Newer, not better.

My new GE microwave oven is not as likable as my old GE microwave oven. I purchased the same model but the old one was better. An instruction booklet was not included with my new microwave. I had to request an instruction booklet and wait for it to be mailed to me. The latch to open the door is very noisy and clunky, making the latch seem cheap and breakable. The different settings on the control panel are confusing and could be simpler to use. I didn't have an instruction book to explain the settings and how to use them. Keep it simple; the letters and numbers displayed on the screen for the different settings as well as the need to push buttons multiple times to set different cook times for different measurements is more complicated than necessary. The vents at the bottom of the microwave have been changed and are angled down compared to my older model so that now the vents are visible from the front of the microwave. Vents are not attractive and now you can see them.
The vent running along the top of the microwave is left open rather than covered so that dust and debris can easily fall into it. The old microwave had the vent at the front, above the door and it was slotted. The new microwave is chunkier looking and not as sleek looking from the front. The new microwave has the GE symbol right in the middle of the door rather than it being less visible on the corner of the door. Product monograms are not pretty and do not add attractiveness to the unit.
There's probably more reasons the new machine does not live up to the old one that I haven't discovered yet. I hope not. I wish I could have purchased a new "old" GE microwave.

Three Years!

This unit was installed brand new into a just built house three years ago almost to the month. And it just died. No warning, no wheezing, no blinking, no nothing. Gone. Not the circuit, circuit breaker, power surge. nope Just decided it was its time to go. Planned obsolescence. And what's up with no lighted panel?

Looks great in my kitchen remodel

Love the microwave...fits in with other GE products in my small kitchen remodel.
Like the clock and light feature. Haven't cooked food in it yet...but looking forward to seeing how this is different than a portable smaller microwave I had.

Poor Product Life

Bought same exact microwave on 5/27/17. Only got 4 years and 3 months use out of it before it starting popping 20 amp breaker. Just bought another unit only because I could use same exact over-stove wall bracket. I hope this unit will last longer!
