Functional But Loud

Cooks like it should but the vent fan runs anytime the microwave is cooking. As you can imagine, this is quite loud during operation. Previous model we had did not function in this way. If we used the microwave more often this would be a deal breaker.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Automatically Noisy fan when in operation

Terrible feature, the fan comes on automatically, on high when in operated. It’s on high and very loud, should be able to turn this unwanted feature off or at least down to low.

It is normal for the "VENT" icon to light when using a microwave function such as Express Cook. JVM3160DF has a one-fan system (only vent fan) so when the microwave working, the vent fan also works for cooling and so the “VENT” icon will light.

I had to completely renovate my kitchen due to water damage and purchased this microwave to compliment my white cabinets (please ignore the walls in the photo--renovation is still in progress!). I couldn't be happier with my purchase! I particularly love the reheat option, which you can program based on food type and amount. Very user friendly. Highly recommend!

My microwave was replaced and this is the one I was given. It's ok for heating food. That's about all I use it for. Nothing fancy. The door is all plastic as are the pieces that keep the door shut.That is my only complaint.

A lot cheaper than previous model

The handle and closing latch mechanism is a lot lighter, a lot cheaper and more flimsy than the original GE microwave we purchased. This purchase was the same model but a few years newer.
