Great features!

This is a great over the oven microwave. It has a vent for the fan and lighting with two watts of brightness.
It is very easy to use and it aesthetically looks great in the kitchen with my other appliances.

Nice microwave… Just two things need improving

Replacing a 20 year old microwave made by GE, so thought I’d buy another and the same size. The only things I don’t care for that was on my old microwave, and actually with this new one, is the door closes loudly which I hope my next door condo order doesn’t cuss me out each time I close the door. No matter how I try to close it quietly, it’s still sounds loud. The second thing that still occurs are the numbers are hard to push, but isn’t that big a thing but I would have thought after 20 years, both these items would have been made more useable for the customer. But no problem with installing with the men I hired, and the microwave has worked well thus far.

Loud, Unreliable, like Express Cook

This is our second purchase of JVM3160DF8BB. Not because we wanted the same model...only because we knew it would fit in the opening. We purchased this same model Nov 2017 and it failed in Nov 2022. The failure is in how the door works...this model (and all over-the-stove brands/models we could find) rely on you forcefully pulling the handle to open and shut the door, dragging the levers over the openings in the frame. There is no button to gently and quietly open and shut it. Over time, this force wears down the plastic levers...which results in the microwave safety sensors thinking the door is still open and refusing to work. Instead, it tripped our power panel switch every time we tried to heat anything. Online searches suggest that we could open up the unit and put a 'shim' in somewhere to trick the microwave into believing it was closed , but we are not electricians and that seemed too risky. If we could have found any other brand/model that used a different latch mechanism we would have bought a different unit. Instead we are stuck with this model. The opening/closing is VERY loud and annoying (open kitchen plan; wall that microwave is on is the back of a bedroom wall so morning heating of coffee and breakfast will wake anyone trying to sleep in due to the loud banging to open/close the door). Also, they have changed this model so that the vent fan ALWAYS runs when heating something, regardless of whether it is needed or not. I am sure that in 3-4 years we will be looking for another unit again.
On the plus side, we like the Express Cook buttons, and the general appearance. The rotating plate is large and never has given us any problems.

cheaper version of the same model

Repurchased this model after our old one broke after 4 years, which in and of itself seemed a short life span (moderate use, kept impeccably clean). Anyway, we knew it would fit the spot so that is why we chose it. Glass place inside is much smaller, one under the microwave light (used to have 2. The handle and door are thinner and really cheap. Even with the plate correctly seated, it's noisy when using. Very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
