Nice unit for the money, BUT!

This is the third GE microwave oven I have purchased since 1981. The first one lasted 21 years and the second, 12 years. I stayed with GE thinking that I would not have much of a problem replacing the old unit with the new. Was I ever wrong!
The bottom of the cabinet over my GE gas stove now looks like Swiss cheese. Why can't GE engineers stick to one pattern for the top mounting bolts and line cord??? I bought GE hoping that I could do a fast replacement of the old unit. Nope---no can do!
Had to dig out the drill and spade bits and do surgery on the cabinet bottom. At least I could use the old wall plate, that was of some comfort.

The new unit works well and is much quieter than the old one. It doesn't have a metal rack as did the old unit but we hardly used it anyway and won't miss it.
By the way, we have an all GE kitchen; gas stove, new refrigerator last year and now a new microwave oven. Oh, and a GE A/C hanging out a front window.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Intuitive Panel

Bought this as our first over-the-range micro/hood as part of a whole kitchen remodel. We don't use our micro a lot, so I wanted a basic, easy to use model. The panel is really intuitive; no need to get out a user manual to change power settings and generally figure out how to enter desired power levels and times. Love the two level surface light.

Works as advertised. Even cooking. Easy to use touch pad, although the location of the over the stove light button is not intuitively placed. I like the quick cook feature.

This replaced an older model GE over-the-range microwave and finally stopped working after over 15 yrs. Very happy with the new one.
