This is my third over-the-range microwave in almost 18 years. I like the microwave, BUT, I do wish they would last longer and not have an astronomical repair price.

I bought this a few weeks ago, it funcions flawlessly. I installed a filter, but I think it should have come with a filter already installed.

interior light is too dim

We've had this microwave for a couple months now. While the light illuminating the stove below is bright, the interior light (inside the microwave) is VERY dim. You cannot see the food heating up inside, which I have a real issue with - especially when you're trying to monitor for overboiled food. I'd have returned the microwave for something else if I had known it was going to be so dim, but I only found this out after I installed it and already made the commitment. The functions are basic, but it's quieter than my previous 12-year old GE microwave. This one is also cheaper, so I figure you get what you pay for.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
