Hard to read

This is a basic microwave that cooks well. The typeface on the command buttons is small and fine, as in not bold. As a result, it is not easy to see if you are entering timer time or cook time, fan, or light. Make the buttons easier to read and I'd give it 4 or 5 stars.

Dim control panel

I just replaced my GE microwave with this model. It's great, except the control panel printing is not bright enough. I see others are complaining about the same. I did not have this issue with my old model...and no, it wasn't back-lit either. Is there any replacement or upgrade to the control panel that GE is going to roll out? Shouldn't have to have a bright kitchen or flashlight to try and run the microwave. Thank you.

Microwave Oven Fails Sight Test

The fifth in a long line of microwave ovens we have purchased from GE over the years, this one is quite disappointing. We needed to purchase the black model, and only saw the white model in the dealer showroom. The oven was installed 2 months ago with all black control pad and buttons labeled in dark gray. During the day, we can make out most of the print, but at night, this requires a flashlight. GE should have labeled the buttons in white or back light them. Don't buy this oven if your night sight is less than perfect.

Waste of money

One positive: the cooking options are good and I have had no problems with that aspect of the microwave, but I have had several other problems. First the majority of the outside is a very soft plastic so it scratches VERY easy. Use the wrong type of cloth to clean it and you will have all these little scratches that show up horribly when light hits it a certain way. I could not even see the numbers on the keypad at night, there were so many scratches. I was able to buff them out with special plastic restorer but they are still there. Secondly, I was boiling a pot of water on the stove and the entire glass door steamed up inside (no way to wipe it off, it was between the 2 glass pieces) This should not happen as it is made to go above the stove. It took a day or 2 to go away but finally did. No more boiling on the stove unless I open the microwave door all the way. Also, I had the fan on high and it did no good. Barely moves any air and the fan vent covers ALWAYS fall off since they are sized just slightly bigger than the opening. Close the microwave door and fan vents fall down. Spend a little more money and get something designed better, this is too annoying.

Very unhappy

We bought basically the same GE model that was installed thinking the mounting hardware would certainly the same. It wasn't even close, not even the location of the exhaust port!!! What should have been a 1 hour install turned out to be 4 hours. And the buttons are all in different locations...really GE?
