We had a GE microwave before this one..it broke down and we got basically the same model only 2 years later...it is great and we love it! Easy, gets the food hot..and we like GE products!

Disappointingly Short Lifespan

Our experience with the GE® 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-The-Range Microwave Oven has been less than satisfactory. While it initially seemed like a convenient addition to our new home, its abrupt malfunction after only a year of light use has been disappointing. The microwave's short lifespan raises questions about its reliability and overall quality. While it offers some standard features and a sleek design, its lack of durability outweighs these positives. If you're considering this microwave, I would caution against it due to its unreliability and potential for premature failure.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A word of caution

I purchased this lower end unit to replace a jvm3160 that died after two years. I did so in order to simply take the dead one down and replace using the same brackets and holes in the cabinet. Surprise! A completly new bracket and upper hardware left me fumbling with the templates once again. Some holes uncomfortably close to previous holes so required additional work. Similar to original but lesser quality. Cheaper bracket, two upper bolts instead of three, one range light as opposed to two.

Nice Microwave

It's a nice microwave and heats faster than my old microwave. The only reason for a 4 star rating is because I have to press hard on the control panel to select what I want.
