Same Model, Different Mounting

Got 10 years out of my JVM3160DF3BB and I'm hoping to get a similar service life out of the DF9BB. Although the functionality is similar, I wasn't anticipating the mounting system to be completely redesigned. I was able to reuse the wall frame after minor modifications, but I had to rout the previous holes in the cabinet because the new holes are ~1/2" forward of the previous ones. I was anticipating a 15-minute swap out, but it took ~2 hours to install (including time to figure out the necessary modifications). The installation instructions could be more helpful (like telling you the factory setting of the vent system instead of directing you to take the microwave apart to find out on your own ... and referring you to the owners manual (which must be downloaded) for semi-helpful instructions on how to install the filters instead of simply adding another graphic). The new mounting system appears significantly less robust than my prior version of the same model, but it's holding. I'd probably give it 5 stars if this was my first purchase of this model, but I'm mildly annoyed by the seemingly unnecessary changes to the mounting system.

Garbage plastic crud

Absolute garbage. The door latch is made of weak plastic held in by an even weaker spring means the door wont shut and the oven useless. It needed fixing within 4 months. Stay away.

So far, so good with the replacement microwave. All old features reappear, and that's a good thing. Just little quibbles: I wish the surface light were stronger and the timer beeping were louder. But otherwise, so far, so good.

Sucks air from above the unit instead of below

The exhaust fan pulls air from the top of the microwave. This is a foolish design. It should pull air from the bottom since thats where most of the smoke/smell from your cooking is coming from, from the burners on the stove. None of the microwave ovens in my other rental properties are like this. They all pull air from the bottom. This one is pulling air from the top and bottom, even with with microwave installed exactly according to the directions.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
