Hope this is better than the last one

Purchased same model in 2016. Started tripping breaker a week ago. Only model available to take home from lowes again. Hopefully beter than last time. Swore I wouldn't buy a GE again.

Great microwave

We purchased this microwave as a replacement for our original one, which after 11 years finally went out. We loved our original that we replaced it with the exact same one. Love the new sleeker design and updated style. Hoping to get another 11 years out of this one!!

The microwave works fine ......

..... but don't know why they had to move all of the mounting screws just a quarter inch from the previous version. This cost me three hours to install the new one as opposed to the 15 minutes that I was expecting. Totally unnecessary, as it is the exact same microwave inside.

Have to replace fuse all the time.

Had this microwave 2 1/2 years and replacing the fuse all the time. I've had fuse go out twice in the same week before. It is not easy to replace. Got a range at the same time and having to get repair man out to look at it already too. I will not buy g.e. items any more.

Had the oven for just over a year and it started blowing fuses when the door is opened. So after the food is done, you have to wait at least a minute to open the door. Very frustrating

Easy to Use - pretty basic but gets the job done

So far so good - got this to replace a GE Spacemaker Microwave that was new with my home in 2006. This is an almost exact replica and fit nicely in the space where the old one had been Only issue: when I looked up the installation instructions online prior to purchasing, the instructions I read were NOT the same as what came with the new unit. The old bracket was shown in the instructions leading me to believe that the new unit would fit on the old bracket. Very disappointed to find out it didn't, and, the holes on the top of the unit also were not in the same place. GE - take a page out of the book of simplicity - keep things like brackets and installation holes the SAME. It makes for an easier experience for the customer.

No control panel lighting--difficult to see

Just had installed yesterday to replace another GE. The clock light shines very bright but the control panel is totally dark. You literally cannot see the buttons well in daylight and you need a flashlight to see in darker times. Incredibly inconvenient. Who would have thought you could not see the control panel? Definitely a safety issue. I would never have thought to research that the control panel would not be readily visible. GE should have noted low visibility issues in the product description.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It is wonderful for cooking pop corn or a full meal. East to bake potatoes to perfection. Great to heat a cup of water for a quick cup of coffee! You can't beat my microwave oven for heating a neck brace for therapy, etc. I could go on and on. It is one of the most used appliances in my house.
