Samsung SSD 850 EVO

I am a pretty proficient computer user and I wanted to update my Inspiron 1545 to be a bit faster, response wise. Since I bought it in 2009, I've gotten good use from it. I did a bunch of research and all of the great reviews led me to the Samsung 850 EVO series.
Overall I am very happy with the SSD. There are a few things I'd like to point out to anyone who is debating on purchasing one of these for their laptop...other than getting one!
1) Make sure to buy a USB 3.0 to 2.5 SATA/HDD Cable for the transfer of the data from your laptop hard drive to the SSD.
2) Before starting the data migration, Defrag your hard drive, turn off screen savers, turn off hibernation and disable the page file.
3) MAKE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE LATEST VERSION OF THE SAMSUNG DATA MIGRATION SOFTWARE (Currently at revision 3.0)
Doing all of these should make your experience an enjoyable and quick one! I have no complaints and I wonder why I didn't do this sooner.

My favorite ssd so far

They are pretty much as advertised when it comes to speed. There are faster ssds on the market, but not for the same price. This is the best bang for your buck. I will not bore you listing a bunch of numbers like everyone else. Just buy this ssd it is amazing for the money. Also, they have have a 5 year warranty which they do honor.
Pros: Inexpensive, 5 year warranty

I love booting a laptop and being at the desktop in well under 25 seconds. Programs open so fast. Really helps giving a 3 year old laptop BRAND new life. And really like Samsung's data migration, along with Samsung's magician. Both make things a bit easier to clone and configure. Only thing is on me, Should have brought the 250GB for more space.

Installation problem

The 850 EVO DDS works very fast on my Dell Latitude E6220 laptop as expected. I think it is good product and don't have any issue about it so far. However I was not able to use the migration software. (That was the reason I purchased this SSD to begin with.) Because the Magician software was not able to see the SSD, I could not even install the Migration software. I had to format the SSD first from my Windows 7 and used 3rd party clone software to copy the Windows. I was very disappointed and wasted lots of time.

Not quite as fast as the 850 Pro but for the money saved well worth it. I also own a larger 850 pro and am quite happy with both of these purchases.
