I recently lost a primary hard drive in my development computer. This gave me the opportunity to research much better solid state drive (SSD). After researching the 850 series is reviewed as the most dependable SSD there is, which is much higher in value than pure benchmark numbers.
This was absolutely the easiest replacement drive I ever experienced. Cloning software and optimization went much faster than I expected. Exactly what an aging laptop needed.
Great product, doubled speed of my macbook pro. I did not like the fact that Samsung does not include cloning software for MAC OS X El Capitan. I used Instructions for cloning I found on YouTube by Crucial. I did not require separate software but uses El Capitan Disk utility and restore.
This drive is probably the best SSD for the money at this time. The only disappointment I had was of course. no support for the Magician Software for linux, just Microsoft. I still have an old copy of XP Pro on one drive, and of course Microsoft is doing all they can to push consumers to go with Windows 7,8, or 10 by making XP deactivate and refuse to reactivate over the internet. The magician software didn't run well at all on my XP Pro, couldn't get to anything but the performance. I mean, does this have to be your OS drive to use Magician ? I'll read further, and boot to my Windows 10 on another drive and see if I have any better luck. And no, the deactivation was not caused by the install of the SSD. I've made plenty of changes on my wife's XP Pro, and on my own machine, and that's only started happening lately. Good job Samsung, all around. I'll try to upgrade to the Pro next round.
