Brings new life to old PC

I put this in my six year old first generation i5 desktop PC. Even though it's on a SATA II interface, this drive makes everything quicker and more responsive. I demoted the old WD Black to backup images and data backup.
Pros: Durable, 5 year warranty, hi peformance
Cons: more expensive

Purchased the 850 EVO 500Gb to install as my new Boot Drive in an old (2009) build. Now, this old build remains pretty darn fast and capable: i7-920 O/C'd to 3.87 GHz, 6Gb DDR3 1600 RAM, 2x WD Black 1TB drives, WIN 7 64-bit.
But after cloning the old HDD boot drive and installing the 850 EVO - WOW! My old machine now boots in like 4 seconds (really) and everything is fast, fast, fast. Breathed new life into a still great (but perhaps a little 'power hungry' compared to Intel's latest cpu's) old machine.
And on top of all of this, the included software - Samsung Magician - is slick, tight and impressive.
Bottom-line: new build or old, you will experience a vast improvement by installing one of these Samsung bad-boys. :)

There is only one way to describe Samsung's SSD drive - INCREDIBLE!
My Asus notebook is only about 6 months old but it took 2-3 minutes for it to boot up and a minute or so for it to shut down. Admittedly it was not one of Asus' higher end machines (mine is an i3 with 6GB RAM) but it was the 1TB hard drive that was making it into a dog as the RPM's were only 5400.
Anyway, now with my new Samsung EVO 250GB SSD the boot time has been reduced to mere seconds and shut down is instantaneous. Overall performance has soared with files loading blazingly fast as well as opening web sites.
Just go with Samsung and you will never look back! Samsung's Pro line of SSD's offer the absolute best performance but are a little pricier .... most reviews show that the EVO line is the absolute best bang for the buck in the 250GB or 500GB drive size.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have owned the 850 Evo SSD for going on two years. It was the third SSD I have owned and I can honestly say the speed with it clearly outperforms the others, especially when utilizing the Turbo write and Rapid mode. Though I should note that these features require the Magician software which only runs on Windows, which is a bummer when it comes to running with Linux or Mac. This is yet another quality product by Samsung and has yet to give me any fuss. It may not be quite as fast as the Pro but for the price its a great buy.
Pros: Durable, Lightweight
