I upgraded a vintage MacBook Pro, replacing its' mechanical HD with this SSD. New measured read/write speed increased 4X. I researched the market before buying and read many positive reviews for this drive and was also impressed by the excellent price to performance factor. Very happy.
I bought a new laptop for work, I am an EMT working in NYC. I noticed that whenever I was using my laptop while the vehicle was in motion the system will freeze or stutter. I had it once I received a notification telling me some of the files in my system were corrupted. That is when I bought this SSD. In less than 30 minutes I was using my laptop without any issues. The provided software was really easy to use. Migrating my entire system only took a few minutes. I no longer get any stuttering or freezing when I am using the laptop while the ambulance is in motion. My system now Loads much faster and when I open my monitor its instantly on. An added bonus is I no longer hear the sounds the HDD makes when it starts up which was actually louder than my the laptop's fan.
I originally built my HTPC back in 2013, and had a Crucial M4 64GB SSD as my OS drive. Well, it was time for an upgrade, and I couldn't be happier. The Samsung Data Migration Tool worked flawlessly, and I couldn't be happier. I would surely recommend this to anyone wanting an upgrade.
There are lots of SSDs available to buy, some cheaper than Samsung, but none better. Before purchasing I did a lot of research and it comes down to Samsung gives you the full performance (some other brands give less than advertized), its reliability has the best ratings, and the technology used for the storage gives you better lifespan than most of the others. Also, the cloning and optimization software it comes with is hard to beat, so when you are setting up your new SSD from an older HDD it makes the transition smooth and simple. I set up two computers with it, one starting fresh and the other was to replace an existing hard drive. In both cases the transistion was smooth and the drives are working great. Bottom line, you'll pay a few extra bucks for a Samsung SDD, but it is well worth the price.
P.S. If you are debating whether you should get an SDD or just stick with a HDD, get one! You'll never want to go back!
This is the best upgrade I have ever made on the macbook. I can't even begin to tell you how previously having 2, 3, or more windows opened at once, and multiple applications how the computer would slow down, and get very hot!!
This SSD is extremely fast and being that its one piece unit. It is just SO much faster, and can handle so much more.
I have upgraded RAM and done other techniques to speed up the laptop but by far this is the way to go!!
I highly recommend....this Macbook runs better then new, and day 1!!
Not only is this drive fast, but the Data Migration software was fast, too. Cloned my 120 GB drive in just a few minutes. I was staring at the green Completed banner for several minutes before I realized it was done and not a progress indicator that wasn't moving! Samsung Rocks!
