I've been designing and building high end Pc's for specialty clients (video studio's, music studio's, ) since the revolution began. After intense research 7 different SSD drive models I bought a Samsung Evo 850 500 GB for my laptop boot time is an astounding 2.2 seconds! Press power button blink and logon. My impatient nature has been satiated! Way to go Samsung. 4 Clients have purchased this drive on my recommendation and they're loving their PC's.
I bought one and installed it in an old notebook computer and suddenly the notebook computer became really fast. Then I bought 5 more of these SSD Drives and installed them in all the PCs in my home and office. There is software to clone the drive and that works great. There used to be a glitch where it was difficult to get the boot files for Windows to work, but now that has been resolved and it is easy to replace conventional spinning platter drives with the new Samsung SSD Drives. I have been using some of these for three years and have not had any problems.
Also, if installed in a notebook or laptop, the battery lasts longer becasue SSD drives use less electricity than the old spinning platter drives. SSD Drives don't have any moving mechanical parts.
Pros: super fast and silent, increased notebook battery life
After extensive research I found that this would be the best choice for my first PC build. I am brand new to the computer world, but according to the research this product was the way to go. I am running my OS off of it (windows 7 64 bit atm) and from a cold boot I am up and running in under 28 seconds. I am not sure how that compares to other drives out there or if my current settings have anything to do with this and I could be running quicker (like I said, I am brand new), but to me that beats the 2 minutes I wait for the laptop. Very easy installation. Fits nicely in the bay with no problem. SATA and PS ports seems strong and sturdy. Couldn't beat it for the cost!! Will add another down the line if all goes well.
