My first ssd

I am very satisfied with the 850 EVO 500GB SATAlll. Not having any experience with a SSD I was wary with installing because of all the horror stories on forums I read. What a surprise this product was to me. The hardest part of installation was having to remove and reinstall the GPU because the SATA port was directly under the end of the GPU. The actual install of the SSD, software and cloneing my HDD was a snap. I am very happy with the improvement of programs and apps speed now with this SSD. Anyone thinking about a SSD will do themselves a real favor with the 850 EVO.
This SSD completely blew my mind. I purchased one for my laptop, since the HDD in it was failing. The EVO reduced boot time to mere seconds. In addition to that, read and write speed is amazingly fast. Now I'm no longer limited by what my disk can handle, but what my network caps at.
Simply a great product. Installation was a breeze. I didn't have to reinstall my OS and my files again just used the included Samsung software to clone my old hard disk. Remember to buy a usb to sata cable to do so. My PC now run faster than ever. Start up and shutdown process are very fast. Eveything in general runs very quick. This is the best upgrade you can give to your computer.
Pros: easy to install and clone. exeptional quality.
This was my second try at installing an SSD into my 2012 laptop. Over a year ago I had purchased a competing product and fought to install it. I imaged, cloned, used EasyBCD but I just could not get it to boot regularly. In fact, it would never "restart" but would boot if I turned off the computer then turned it back on. I gave up on it and installed a 7200 RPM HD. Oddly enough the competing product (I bought 3) installed and booted into an 7 year old laptop and a 9 year old desktop.
In 2015 I bought this 850 EVO. I had read the reviews for this around the time I had bought the competing SSDs but the price was nearly $200 for a 250GB SSD so I passed. I wish I hadn't. The EVO installed so easily, sooooo easily. I can't believe how easily it installed. It didn't care whether I booted from EUFI, or Legacy, or BCD or any other cryptic name the gearheads use when they build these things. I didn't have to know anything. This thing was basically plug and play. I lost a year of SSD speediness because I was being cheap.
I have had this EVO for a few months now. There are no heat or noise issues you might get from a regular hard drive. The computer boots faster than it had ever before. The only thing that seems to slow it down is program incompatibility between my operating system and my old school word processor.
Every Samsung product I have ever owned has been a delight. Maybe they will make cars some day.
I am not surprised to be writing this; because I am so happy with all the other Samsung products I own. The hard drive performance is everything I expected. I have several Samsung TV's and a Samsung monitor; all of which I love everything about them. Buying a Samsung SSD was a no brainer! The only reason I only gave it 4 stars for value; my personal feeling is, ALL SSD's are still overpriced.
I bought this to upgrade the hard drive on my Macbook Pro. I lot of the reviews said it worked on the Mac but mine doesn't recognize it. The software that comes with it is only for the PC. Which I had know that b4 I bought it. Hey Samsung, how about some Mac software? You can probably put it on the same CD.
Used on a dual core laptop with Windows 10. OEM drive made the computer run very slow. Watching videos was choppy and accessing data and internet was disappointing. Cloning the PC drive to the Samsung SSD was extremely easy and fast. Instead of wanting to buy a new Laptop, the price of the SSD compared to a new computer with a faster CPU is no longer a consideration. I have upgraded all of my desktops to Samsung SSD. Even the fastest Corei7 gets dramatic performance improvement. Creating DVDs in half the time, editing video quicker. Now when GIGABIT internet speed becomes available, I wont need the expensive "cable TV".
