I wanted a budget alternative for scanning my B/W photo negatives at high resolution. I have been amazed at the quality and will continue employing this scanner in the future for this purpose. It has been beyond what I anticipated.

Even 75 Year Old Can Operate Epson V550

I use the Epson Perfection V550 to scan in photos, old news articles, and letters written in the early 20th century. As a genealogist it is of prime importance to me to be able to use a scanner that is so versatile. I can also share my scanned material and photos with family and friends, and that is most important to me. Genealogists need a product that is versatile, dependable, produces images that are close to perfect and it is so easy to use.

Really like this product. Easy to use and impressed that I am able to scan several prints at a time and it treats each as individual photos. And can scan prints of varied sizes at the same time. Very pleased with the ease and quality. Helped a friend get a series of photos together. Did about 180 photos in 2 hours.

Great Scanner

I was looking for a scanner to scan old slides and photos from my mom and dads attic into my computer. This one does the job and more. Very simple to use. I am a novice at things like this and I was posting old slides on facebook in no time. I highly recommend this to any one looking to copy old slides and photos into their computer!!!!

Scanner won't power on

I've had the V550 scanner for two years. I take care of my computer equipment and the scanner is still in pristine condition... except now it won't turn on. I scan artwork on a weekly basis, no heavy daily usage. It worked a week ago without issues. Now today the scanner no longer powers up. I have another set of power cords and even tried plugging it into a different outlet with no luck. I can hear a tiny click sound when I push the power button, so I know electricity is getting to the machine, but it does nothing to power up. Unfortunately it's passed the one year warranty. Seems like a complete waste, since my last epson scanner lasted 10+ years. This one is poorly made. I guess Epson is no longer a quality brand.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've had mine 2 yrs. now and it's never failed me. I'm a senior but find it easy to use. There's a couple of good YouTube videos that taught me to use the main purposes that I need. I'd like to learn more about other features that would enhance my artwork that I save in pictures.
