High Quality

I was given this scanner as a gift a month ago and I absolutely love it. It came to me highly recommended in a film photographers' forum. The setup is easy, and the software is easy to install. There is a learning curve, but that goes for anything that is new. It scans both 35mm and medium format negatives/transparencies, prints and much more. I shoot both 35mm and medium format. This a great scanner and, I too, highly recommend it.

I purchase this scanner in Jan. 2016; sorry for late review but I like to fully use a product for a while to make sure I can give an accurate review.
The quality of images from photos, negatives & slides are excellent, which truly is the bottom line. I can't give it a 5-star because you have to hard wire it to computer.

Easy to use

I purchased this last month to transfer slides to jpeg files. My sister had passed away and she had 15 Kodak carousel trays. Most were the kind that held 140 slides. They ranged from the 1950's through the 1980's. It did an excellent job in transferring the pictures. I also tried several old photos to see how they came out well also.

I cannot believe that I set this up so quickly and out of the box I am getting regular JPG from my father-in-law's ancient 1960's negatives. This machine has a superior skill set. I will not let you goof up. Thanks Epson for designing the V550!

Epson comes through again!

I bought this scanner to replace my old Epson Perfection 4990 Photo because I had a lot of family slides to scan, and I lost the parts I needed for my old scanner to process slides. I hesitated to buy this "mid-range" scanner, but I'm extremely happy with the slide processing, the speed, and the automatic color correction. Not all slides were color-corrected properly (some are just too far gone to be repaired, being from the 50s and stored very badly), but the vast majority of the slides look great now! After scanning well over 1,000 slides, I'm really happy with this scanner.

I am a 68 year old female who is not a techie. Set up was very easy. This is my second Epson scanner and I am very happy with the quality of Epson.

Archive your negatives and slides for less.

I enjoy my V550 scanner. Easy setup, easy to follow instructions, and it is well worth the price to archive those old negatives and slides from the parents and grandparents. Much cheaper than the available service providers.

Very good photo scanner

I purchased this scanner to digitize thousands of photos. The scanner is easy to use and the software is fairly good. I like that I can put multiple photos on the scanner bed at one time. The software will take each photo and put it in its own file. It will do that most of the time. Sometimes it doesn't work that way. At times it will put all of the photos into the same file. I have to rearrange all of the photos or remove some of them to make it work properly. Other features are great. Resoulition, color management, and light exposure are very good. Overall I feel this scanner is very good. I would purchase it again.
