I haven't used the new scanner that I just bought for two reasons: 1. All of the installation information was in languages other than English. I got the software installed any way since it was essentially automatic after putting the disk in the drive. 2. there is no instruction manual packed with the scanner to tell how to operate it - at least not in English. I will search online for a manual, but why was it not included for a product sold in the USA. If I cannot find an operation manual online, I will return it to the store where I bought it for a refund and look for another brand of scanner that include English instructions and manual.
This is a stupid way to sell technical products. Not everyone is a computer scientist.

Set up went fine. Unfortunately having great difficulty putting the slides on CD's. Instructions are worst then bad. If I cannot resolve what I want to do, will be returning the scanner.

V550 color scanner

Works great. Software is a little lacking but overall does what it is supposed to do. I would have given it 5 stars except for one thing. The front selection buttons are not lighted. This makes it difficult to select an action in low lighted room. Otherwise, it's a good scanner.

Does ok with slides. Haven't tried film or negatives yet. Does not scan photos well. Not crisp at all. Soft, almost blurry.

I have used Epson scanner as well as other brands. I prefer to Epson. The quality of the scan is very good and can be adjusted to one's needs. Scans relatively quickly. PLUS Epson support is very helpful. I nightly recommend this scanner.

EPSON V550

I had an Epson V500 for many years and it worked well, but it just quit working today , so I bought the Epson V550 to replace it. I hope it works as well as the V500 did.

The Epson scanner was a big improvement over my printer/scanner/ fax...it was twice as fast as before on the old scanner. I went through 40+ years of family pictures and albums in a matter of days. Would recommend it to anyone wanting a good scanner at an affordable price.
